What this file is. The ten devices, rebuilt in our own system on GLASS
— the only bed that is a photograph, so an overlay that stays legible here
stays legible anywhere. Everything is a pure function of one clock;
?t=N freezes a frame. The lower thirds are shown at true size in a
crop of the frame's bottom band, not scaled down, so what you see is the
shipped measurement.
Why ours and not theirs. These are Remotion Pro templates and they are cheap.
The cost is not the money — a bought component still has to be re-cut to our
glass, our type scale, our accent and our three easings, and by then we have
rewritten it and own a dependency as well. The device is worth testing; the
code is not worth buying.
1 · Overlay — lower thirds
Both sit inside a 96 px safe margin, which is 5% of the frame. The hairline
marks it. Anything outside that is a caption that a phone crops off.

The pin draws, the rule opens, the words rise from behind
their own edge. Nothing scales and nothing slides across the frame — a
lower third that travels competes with whatever is happening in the footage
above it.

An accent bar grows down, then the three lines rise
70 ms apart. The bar is the only accent on screen, so it survives the
brightest part of a plate. Real content: our narrator is a voice model,
and naming it is a fact rather than a flourish.
2 · Storytelling
The rule these two need. A message bubble and a quoted headline both look
like evidence, which is exactly why they are dangerous. A message must be real
or plainly illustrative — never a fabricated quote attributed to a named
person — and an article must carry its source and the date it was
checked, on screen, or it becomes our claim the moment it is animated.

On-screen messages
Bubbles land in turn, with the typing dots holding the
gap. Each one lands with a small overshoot from 0.94 — never from
nothing. The exchange here is four facts we can stand behind, not a
conversation anybody had.

Source first, headline second, the quote marked third,
the date last. That order is the argument: the viewer knows whose claim
it is before they read it. The date is not
decoration — a page that said this in August may not in November.
3 · Text effects
All four are one path with a thick round-capped stroke, drawn on by
pathLength. There is no filter, no texture and no image anywhere —
the hand-drawn quality is a wobble authored into the path itself, which costs
what a line costs.

Crossed off
Five candidates struck one at a time, leaving one
standing. The struck row dims to 0.38 and drops 2 px — it has to
leave, not just acquire a line. Real: the five voice routes we
closed, and the one we kept.

Spinning text wheel
Tonight’s background is
A real wheel — four faces on a rotating drum, not a
vertical slide. Spins two and a bit turns, decelerates hard and lands
with a small overshoot. 3D transforms in headless
Chromium are unmeasured on this machine.

Strike through
The pace is
~190 wpm
179–190 wpm
Three finished episodes measured 179, 179 and 189.
The line draws, then the replacement rises into the gap
beside it. The old value stays on screen at 0.4 — struck, not deleted.
A correction that hides what it corrected is just a new claim.

Soft edges come from radial-gradient,
never from filter: blur().
A thick round-capped stroke sweeps behind the words,
second phrase 320 ms after the first. Sits behind the type at 0.42
so it never fights the letterforms. Two marks in one line is the ceiling —
a third and nothing is emphasised.
4 · YouTube
Two warnings before either of these is used. A comment card puts a real
person's handle on screen — use only our own channel, and think about whether
the handle needs to be there at all. And a subscribe prompt contradicts a
locked position: the playbook says every episode ends on a limit, not on
“go and try it”. That is a decision to make deliberately, not a device to
reach for.

The bit about a blurred div costing seventeen
times the render time — I went and checked mine. Same thing.

Press, swap, settle. The button dips to 0.96 before
it changes — the anticipation is what makes it read as a press rather than
a cut. Whether we ever use it is a playbook question, not
a motion one.
